Disney--Day 5

Thursday was our Animal Kingdom day.  We also were going to go back to Magic Kingdom that night, so we planned on getting to AK early so we could have a little break at the resort in the afternoon.

Landry, of course, being our animal lover, loved Animal Kingdom.  We all really liked the safari tour ride (and saw SO many animals), but she also loved walking through the zoo-like exhibits and seeing the animals.

The hit ride among Jeff and the girls was Expedition Everest (they got to ride multiple times thanks to the small crowd!), Landry loved the "It's Tough to be a Bug" 3D show, and I loved the "Festival of the Lion King" show.

After lunch, Korley was D-O-N-E with Animal Kingdom and wanted to go back to the hotel and swim. Landry still had things she wanted to do, so we split up--I took Korley back to the hotel and Jeff stayed with Landry.  Honestly, after this many days of non-stop walking, I was ready to go back to the hotel myself for a little R&R!!

Baloo and King Louie--these were the only characters we met in the parks that weren't at a character meal.  There was not a soul in line to meet them when we were walking by, so we stopped for a meet & greet.  Baloo noticed that the girls' autograph books were in the shape of the Disney World name tags (that my mom made!!) and he was holding Landry's book on his chest like a name tag....so silly, that Baloo! :)

After some swimming and relaxing Thursday afternoon, we headed back to Magic Kingdom that evening for the Electrical Parade and fireworks.  I was adamant about seeing the electrical parade.  It's one of the few things I really remembered about being at Disneyland when I was nine-years-old and I really wanted to the kids to see it.  Unfortunately, this was one of the only times that week when we were really in a crowd, which made everyone a little grumpy.  We had to claim a spot for the parade by 6 for when the parade started at 7--but we had a good view and enjoyed the parade!

When the parade was over, Jeff and the girls went to ride Space Mountain again while we were waiting on the fireworks show to start.  They got off the ride just as the fireworks were about to start and we went and got a great spot by the castle to watch Tinkerbell fly from the castle and the fireworks show.

The kids had loved watching the fireworks from the beach at the Polynesian the previous nights, but they (Korley particularly) loved being so close to action.  And, I loved watching her watch the fireworks!  She is always genuinely amazed!

The crowds!  Main Street USA was busy this night!

After the fireworks and after we let the crowds die down a little, we took the ferry back to the Polynesian to rest for the next day, which was our last full day at Disney!
