It all started about a month ago.
Landry, our lover of all things outdoors, had been begging to go fishing. Her plea finally fell on sympathetic ears. PopPop and Landry had a little grandfather/grandaughter date last month to a local lake to do a little fishing. It's a little hard to see in this picture, but they came home with a stringer of fish. Success! Landry REALLY wanted to have them mounted, but I objected because 1) gross and 2) they were only about 5 inches long and do you have any idea how much it is to mount stuff?!?
She loved her little fishing experience and talks about it a lot!
So, last weekend when we went to Lake Jackson to visit our dear friends, the Schwertners, Jeff and Scott planned a guided fishing trip for Friday for the two of them and Landry and Meghan.
I knew Landry would enjoy it....for a little bit....but with the 4:45 wake-up time and being on the boat for half a day in 100 degree heat, I figured she would grow weary of it. Boy, was I WRONG! She loved every minute of it! I was also a little concerned about Meghan but she loved it all, too!
Here are Landry and Meghan on their way out on the boat.

Nice catch, Meghan! I love her beaming smile!
Landry caught a WHOPPER.....7 lb, 27" fish. I think it was a black fish (or something like that....red fish, maybe?--whatever, a big fish)
The girls and their daddies.
Landry, Meghan, and the fishing guide. Jeff and Scott said this guy was fantastic with the kids!
They had the fish cleaned and Scott grilled the fish for us Friday evening. Scott could seriously be a chef--everything he makes is delicious and the fish was no exception. It was wonderful!
Thank you, Scott and Jeff for taking the girls on such a fun and memorable excursion!
....more to come on our Lake Jackson trip!!
