When Landry was a toddler she was deathly afraid of balloons and balls. I remember when she was about 13 or 14 months old her Mother's Day Out teachers would have to take her to another classroom while her classmates played with big bouncy plastic balls because she would go ballistic if she was in the room while they came out.
Cut to 4 years later and all she talks about is playing soccer. Landry has been begging for over a year now to play soccer. She was old enough to play last fall, but we missed the sign-up deadline and thought she would "forget" about soccer. Not. She has asked nearly every day for a year when she can start playing. Well, fortunately (for all of us!) she started this week! She is on the Ladybugs and is excited that their colors are red and black. I took her last Saturday and bought her some red shiny soccer shoes. However, it wasn't until I was getting her ready for her first practice the other night that I realized we had left the store with two left shoes. Ugh! So, she got to wear her pink, flowery, light-up Stride Rite sneakers for the first practice. Oh well!
Here's our tough little Ladybug!
