The B-I-B-L-E....through the eyes of a five-year-old

Some of the funniest things Landry says (unbeknownst to her) are during the 5 minutes or so before she goes to bed when she is saying her prayers. Just recently she has prayed to God to give Jesus "good luck tomorrow" (don't know what Jesus had going on.....job interview? big game? dance recital?); she's prayed that she is thankful for things that grow--flowers, trees, and fingernail; and she's begged God in a prayer "that when I get to Heaven I get to have my skin".

Her mind never ceases to amaze me. Last night was no exception.

I was reading her the story of The Garden of Eden from her preschool Bible (complete with pictures!) before she went to bed. After the story, we were talking about how Eve disobeyed God by eating the apple. I told her that Eve should have obeyed God and ignored Satan. Here's the rest of the conversation:

Landry: Who's Satan?
Me: The devil.
Landry: But, where's his picture?
Me: Well, the devil presented himself as a snake in the Garden of Eden [pointing to picture].
Landry: [confused/concerned look on face] Oh.---Is the devil a hondaconda (anaconda)?
Me: No, it's just a regular snake.
Landry: Do you think he's a King Cobra?
Me: No, I don't think so. I think it's just a garden snake because they are in the Garden of Eden.
Landry: [seems satisfied with this answer...then] Do devil garden snakes live in apple trees in Texas?
Me: No (really I have no idea). It's time for bed.

Tonight's story is Noah and the Ark....should be another interesting conversation.

my favorite part is that she knows the species "anaconda" and "king cobra"...our little bindi.

I love their minds are so literal at this age. I am sure that you do have some great conversations at night. I am sure Noah and the ark will be a big hit with all the rain we have had lately:)
