Dancing.......

Last night's episode of Primetime, after Dancing with the Stars, was about the "comeback" of ballroom dancing. One of the segments was on how they have implemented a ballroom dancing program in New York City's public schools for elementary aged kids. They talked about how much the kids have learned as a result of learning to dance. One of the benefits they talked about was how the kids don't "hate" (i.e. have coodies) the opposite sex like they might if they didn't have to dance with them.

There maybe something to this. I remember when I was in 4th and 5th grade really looking forward to Friday's music class. On Friday's, we didn't have to sing, play the harpsicord, recorder, or triangle.......we got to SQUARE DANCE (Abilene's version of ballroom)! I remember it being so much fun. And, I remember for the 45 minutes or so that we were dosado-ing and promenade-ing, boys didn't have coodies!
