But, it ain't bad, either.
We were slightly bummed that we didn't have any major (or minor) Memorial Day weekend plans a couple of weeks ago.
So, on Saturday, I decided that it would be fun (in the 100 degree heat) to go to Fall Creek Farm where we could pick fresh strawberries and peaches.
Once we got to Granbury, we were all hungry so we decided to go to Babe's. Little did we know that Granbury was having some sort of jamboree festival and it would take us 20 minutes to drive a block.
But, we finally got to Babes--ate--and were off to the farm.
We drove the extra 15 miles or so out to the farm, and.....closed.
Awesome.
Apparently, the peaches aren't ready yet and the strawberries had all been picked.
Note to reader--their website does say to call ahead to make sure they're open. I might have chosen to ignore that advice.
But. On our way in and out of Granbury, the girls had seen a "beach" that they were dying to go to. Unfortunately, we didn't have swimsuits with us so we promised them we would go back the next day (in more 100 degree heat).
So, the following day, we packed up our sunscreen and beach towels and went out to Granbury City Beach.
Let me tell ya--it's not that bad.
They had a fairly sizeable beach area, several covered picnic areas that looked like tiki huts, a little spray ground for the little ones, a snack bar, and of course, the lake to swim in. (By the way, I don't know if this was usual or just because there was a lot of boats and activity on the lake, but the water was kind of nasty. Lots of debris floating.)
If we had come more prepared with more than just sunscreen and towels--like maybe beach toys and a couple of beach chairs, we might have stayed a lot longer. But it was a perfect little "beach getaway" for our purposes.
