Landry was excited to learn during her first week at her new school that her grade would soon be going on a field trip to Dinosaur Valley in Glen Rose.
Last Wednesday was finally field trip day!
Our first stop was actually Dinosaur World--which is not Dinosaur Valley but is close by--which the teachers were unaware of when the whole adventure was planned.
But anyway, Dinosaur World was nice and the kids loved it.
The first thing we did was dig for fossils.
Landry loved digging for fossils. (And Jeff, too)
PopPop and Gigi came along for the field trip as well. We're fortunate that we live close enough to them now that they can be involved in the girls' activities!
After we finished fossil digging, we went on the 'Dino Walk', which was a long trail of dinosaur statues and fact plaques. Unlike most of the kids that raced through the trail, Landry truly enjoyed stopping and reading about what she was looking at. (I see a historical-marker-road trip-stopper in the making!)
We also took several pictures of Landry running for her life from the carnivores.
And Jeff running for his life from the omnivores......
After we finished up at Dino World, Landry's teacher decided we needed to go to Dino Valley and was going to wheel and deal to get 104 kids and 57 adults into the park even though we hadn't paid to go there--but thought we had.
We only had about an hour to spend at Dino Valley and the place where we parked was by the river. When we first got out of the car, only a handful of kids were in the river.
But, within a matter of minutes the field trip dads were helping 104 2nd graders cross the river.
Many of the kids fell (most purposely) in the river and rode back to school soaking wet! Landry fell (unpurposely) and got her clothes wet, too. They didn't care, though--they had a blast!
Thanks PopPop and Gigi for coming along with us! We had fun!

This past Saturday, our friends from Lubbock, the Jordans were in the area for a school trip for Kelan.
We made plans with them to go to Great Wolf Lodge on Saturday night.
Landry was so excited to see Kelan. I wish I had had my camera handy when she first spotted him--it was priceless.
They didn't miss a beat and enjoyed catching up and playing with each other.

All of the kids!
Jordans, we had fun with y'all! Come see us again soon!
