We left the Saturday after school let out to head to Arlington. On the way, we stopped in Abilene so I could see my BFF, Kristen. Kristen and I went to high school together and until about a year and a half ago we lived within 15 minutes of each other and worked together (still work together, but we're both home-based now). Now, she lives way down near Houston and we're in Lubbock so it's rare that we get together. But, fortunately she and her girls were visiting her parents and we were passing through town so it worked out that we meet up.
Kristen's parents were gracious (and brave!) enough to take Landry and Korley along with Meghan and Kate to Chuck E Cheese while Kristen and I went to lunch on our own. We met up with them later and the girls had had a blast! Landry and Korley used to play with Meghan and Kate almost every weekend, so they were just excited to see them as I was Kristen.
Korley looks terrified in this picture, but she wasn't. She LOVED this ride!!

Landry and Meghan together got about 75 million tickets--which incredibly was really only enough to buy about 4 really cheap bracelets.

After we left Abilene, we drove on to Arlington to my parents' house to stay for a few days.
Our local PBS station constantly has Rainforest Cafe commercials and Landry has been begging for several weeks to go there. Gotta love when they ask to go places that aren't in your town!! (She also asks constantly to go to some Nickelodeon waterpark that's in Orlando) So, on Sunday, my mom, dad, Brady, the girls and I all went to Rainforest Cafe. I wish I had taken more pictures, but most of the time I was dealing with a frightened Korley. I guess a massive rain storm, trumpeting elephants, and rioting gorillas aren't her idea of a good time. Party pooper.....
Monday through Wednesday, the girls and I had a nice time at my mom and dad's. I had to work, but my mom kept the girls entertained during the day. It was nice just to be there and get to enjoy hanging out with my parents.Jeff flew into town on Wednesday and that afternoon he and I drove to Austin for a mini-vacation. We haven't been on a vacation by ourselves in almost two years, so it was nice to get away alone. Jeff's parents kept Landry and Korley and the girls had so much fun. Of course, they also got to spend a lot of time with their cousins, which is always fun for Landry and Korley.
Jeff and I went to Barton Creek in Austin and it was SO NICE! The weather was perfect the days we were there, so we spent a lot of time at the pool, going for walks, and doing absolutely nothing. Sometimes it's nice to have a few days of no agenda and no responsibility!
We also got to go to dinner with our friends, Ann and Kevin, one evening. We don't get to see Ann and Kevin too often, so it was great to get to meet up with them and catch up!
Again, I hardly took any pictures while we were in Austin, but I have these few.
Here was the view from the back porch of the hills and part of the golf course. It was so much prettier than how I captured it!
Here is the back porch where Jeff and I spent a lot of time in the evening just sitting in the rocking chairs, admiring the view and visiting. (Don't we sound 80 years old?!?)
One of the hallways had these fabulous old pictures of events/things in Austin. This one was from the late 1800s. Let me just say that there is NO WAY I could have ever lived in the 1800s in Austin if *this* is what I would have had to wear. NO. WAY. EVER!!!! Just looking at the picture almost makes me have a heat stroke.
We drove back to the Dallas area on Saturday and went to a baby shower for a couple from our old small group. It was such a nice shower and it was so nice to get to see our old friends!
Sunday we packed up and drove back to Lubbock! It was a great spring break!

I really enjoyed reading this blog until I got to "packed up and drove to Lubbock." And, all of a sudden, I was sad! :(
Miss you guys! Look forward to seeing you soon!
That is a trip! You did the tour of Texas. Sounds like fun especially the Austin part. A little mini vacation sounds nice.
Poor Korley...the rainforest can be a frightful place!
It was great to see you guys! Can't wait to catch up again soon!
