Back In The Saddle

One of our "selling points" on convincing Landry to move to Lubbock was that there were lots of horses out here for her to ride.

That was 7 months ago--approximately 270 days ago.

So, that means I have been asked about 270 times by Landry when she gets to ride a horse.

Well, today was finally the day.

I found out about a guy that is a horse trainer and finally called and scheduled a lesson for Landry.

He told me that he had a really sweet, mild-mannered mule that he likes to teach kids on and asked if I thought Landry would be opposed to riding a mule. Uh, no--she wouldn't have cared if it was a billy goat.

I made the mistake of telling Landry about her lesson a week ago and since then she has been galloping around the house making donkey neighing (is that a term?) noises.

Well, today was finally here and Landry had a blast. She really loves animals and had such a great time riding Dolly. The Maines' also have many horses, dogs, and llamas on their property so Landry was in hog heaven (no hogs, though) playing with all of the animals.

Side note--Dolly is the mule's name and Donnie is the cowboy's name. However, she kept getting confused and calling the mule Donnie. It was especially funny when she would say, "Come on, Donnie" and then make her smoochie noise to get Dolly to move. Fortunately, Donnie is a really nice guy and good-natured and didn't seem to mind that she was confusing him with the ass. Heehee....

Here are a few pics from our afternoon:

Have you guys really been in Lubbock for 7 months? Wow! That is hard to believe. Looks like Landry had tons of fun. We've got to get she and Beckham together sometime. Would she mind a younger man? Ha!

She looks like she is having a blast. Maybe we should move to Lubbock, get a house right beside yours, and share a pony for our kids.

Thank about it! :)
