REAL Birthday!!

Yesterday was Landry's SIXTH birthday! I know mothers say this about their children every year, but I really can't believe Landry is already six! These years have gone by so fast!

Landry had a great day yesterday. She decided to wear a party hat to school (hey, why not?)--I got to go to her school and eat lunch with her--Jeff, Korley, and I went to her school later that day to bring her class cupcakes--she opened presents at home--then we went out to eat. As luck would have it, last night was her school's "Chick-fil-A" night. Basically, on Chick-fil-A night anyone from her school that goes to CFA writes their teacher's name on the back of their receipt and the teacher that has the most participation wins a prize. It's always a big turn-out and a lot of fun for Landry. So, that's where we went for dinner. A lot of her friends, neighbors, and classmates were there so it was pretty much a second birthday party for her!

Landry is such a great kid and we are so proud of her. She is kind and thoughtful--she often gets "purple" at school which is something reserved for special days when the kids have done something "above and beyond". Her teacher says that she most often gets purple for helping others, encouraging others, following directions, and being a good listener.

Landry is currently into dinosaurs (still!) and animals. Most everything she does revolved around animals in some form or fashion. She loves reading books about animals, making animal crafts, playing with stuffed animals, working animal puzzles, and 9 times out of she will choose to watch Animal Planet to cartoons. Side note--she's watching Animal Planet now and as I was typing this, she just came in to ask me if anacondas live in McKinney, TX. :) I said no, and I hope that's true!

She is such a great big sister to Korley. She loves to play with her and loves to make her laugh. Many times Korley is fussy and irritable (read, throwing a huge fit) in the car after I pick them up from daycare and Landry always tries to soothe her by holding her hand and singing to her. She is just the sweetest, most caring big sister!

We are so blessed to have Landry in our lives! Every day with her is such a gift--even if they are going by too quickly!

Hey Tessa--we just had a small family party for their first birthdays. Actually, we didn't have a "real" party (with lots of friends and stuff) for Landry until she turned 4--prior to that we just did the family thing.
