FIVE!!!!

Five. Five??? F-I-V-E!!!!

I cannot believe my baby girl is five today. I don't know why, but five seems like such a milestone. It's hard to believe that she has reached this milestone so quickly!!

Landry's birthday party was this past Saturday. Although she had it at a gymnastics place and they did gymnastics activities, don't be fooled into thinking that was the theme! No, no....the theme was all Spirit (as in "Stallion of Cimarron"). She wanted to have a gymnastics party, but whenever she was asked what kind of party she was having, she would reply "Spirit". The party was great, and I think all of the kids had fun getting to bounce on the trampoline, walk on the balance beams, and swing on the bars.

I knew from the moment I gave birth to Landry that I loved her, but I had no idea that it was possible that I could love her even more from one day to the next, that she could make me laugh harder than anyone else, that I would be so proud to watch her be so thrilled and excited to learn things, or that she would become my friend.

There is no way I could describe Landry in one word. She is loving, sensitive, silly, unique, smart, funny, happy, obedient, and compassionate.

Here is a little bit more about Landry.....

*She is not a tomboy, but she's not a girly-girl either. She loves to wear skirts, loves the colors pink and purple, loves her hair to be fixed, and loves to look "cute"; however, she hates make-up, nail polish, and jewelry. She does not play with dolls, Barbies, or dress-up clothes. Instead, she loves to play with dinosaurs, ponies, and other animals.

*She has told us on more than one occasion that she does not want to have kids when she grows up. Instead, she wants to be a farmer and take care of horses. She doesn't want to have kids because she doesn't want her stomach cut open (which is the way my kids were born....she doesn't even know about the other way--she'd REALLY not want to have kids) and she doesn't want to clean up after them when they throw up.

*She LOVES animals. She doesn't just love the cute, cuddly animals. She is fascinated with sharks, spiders, alligators, hyenas, etc. She has given up watching Dora and such and has replaced it with "The Crocodile Hunter" and "Croc Files". I have a feeling that she and Bindi would be very good friends! Landry is what the Irwin's would refer to as a "Wildlife Warrior"... :)

*She loves thrill-rides. She is not scared of roller coasters, going fast, or going upside down. She loves it!

*She prefers broccoli to french fries.

*She uses the phrase, "you're a goose-ball!" I guess this is a combination between "goof-ball" and "silly goose".

*She also incorrectly says "stunk" instead of skunk, "nuse" instead of use, and "closhcloth" instead of washcloth.

*She hates to get into trouble and let others down. Oftentimes, if she does something wrong, she will tell on and punish herself by putting herself in time-out. So strange...

*She loves her baby sister, Korley. She loves to play with Korley and loves to make her laugh. She is so proud of her and will tell strangers that she has a cute baby sister.

These are just some of the great characteristics about Landry! It will be interesting to see how much five changes (or doesn't!!) her. We are extremely lucky and so blessed that she is part of our family!!
