If She Writes It, They Will Come

Y'all.

Last night was fun.

I sent my family on their merry way back to Lubbock Sunday and stayed in the Metroplex to become one step closer to becoming Pioneer Woman's BFF.

We went to the book signing.

It was insane.

Borders did something weird and handed out colored wristbands all throughout the day yesterday. The earlier you got your wristband, the better color you had--the better color you had, the better place you had in line.

We were all fortunate enough that Kara and Karin procured enough wristbands for our group earlier in the day. Because of our red wristband, we were in the 2nd group of 100 people.

By the time we got there at 7 pm (when the book signing started), Borders had already given out EIGHT HUNDRED wristbands. Unbelievable. Borders had never seen anything like it and I don't think they were prepared for the crowd!

Lindsay, my friends, and I got there shortly after 7. Kara, Suzanna, and Abby were already there and we got in line with them.

Ree and her two daughters arrived shortly after 7. I'm sure there were traffic issues and it was raining in Dallas.

Ree addressed the crowd for a couple of minutes, thanked everyone for coming out, and got down to book-signing business.

Her daughters were so cute and so polite. They handed out the *free* t-shirts!

The other members of her entourage were her oldest brother, Matteo and Teresa. I think I was starting to freak Matteo out a little bit with all the pictures I was taking of him.

Here's an extremely small portion of the crowd. I can't even begin to explain to you how many people were there. It was amazing. I heard this morning that Ree stayed until 2 am signing all of the books!

We entertained ourselves while we were waiting.

Lindsay practiced her best vampire face.

We had a "what's the weirdest thing in your purse?" contest....

Abby had play-doh.....Karin had flip flops.

After almost two hours in line, we finally got to meet Ree!

She was just as awesome as we thought she would be. She's cute and personable--and you immediately feel like you've known her forever.

Lindsay asked her to tell her about Corby. She immediately picked up her camera and snapped a picture of Linds. Then, she asked how she could contact her--Linds gave her her email address. Matchmaking possibilities? We'll see!

I'm sure Ree is looking at me and hoping Linds and Corby will work out and someday we'll all be hanging out at the Lodge together. Yes, or yes?

Here we are after we all got to talk to Ree and got our *free* t-shirts!

Linds, Tiff, Karin, Sarah, Abby, Suzanna, and Kara--I had a blast with all of you! Glad we got to do this!

O.k. Courtney--you guys were having too much fun!! I am SO clueless here...will you tell me about this author and about the mania surrounding her??
The only mania I have been a part of lately is the (insert sheepish grin here) Twilight mania!! :)
Fill me in--I love books of any kind!!

Wow, I am so happy for you guys! I know how much fun you all had; and after reviewing the Corby posting, I'm hoping that will also work out for Linds! What a memorable night for all of you! It was certainly worth putting up with the cold and the rain!

OK you jerks - that looks SO fun!

I'm jealous you got to hang out and will not shed a tear when you guys all wear your sweet t-shirts.

I will probably have gone to bed early anyway ;)

I have asked for this cookbook for Christmas -- if I don't get it, I will have to go buy it for myself! ;) I have been such a fan of hers for a long time!

So sad I missed it. I don't think the Dr. would have understood how bad I needed to MEET PW so we could be BFFs. He really didn't understand me needing to go to the Tech game. Maybe I should find a new Dr. So glad yall had fun. Wish I would have been there.

Great post! It was a blast - I so hope Lindsey makes her way onto the Ranchelor...that would be AWE.SOME.

I love the last picture where Tiff looks like Super Fan with all her books! :)
