Randomness
Traci tagged me a couple of weeks ago to do an 8 Random Things list. I don't know why I found this so hard, but it was. I mean it's only eight things.....how hard can that be? However, I placed a lot of pressure on myself trying to make them "random". We'll see just how random they are....
1) I don't really like to read. This is not something I'm proud of, but it's true. I hate books. I sometimes force myself to read and usually I'm disappointed by the end of the book and wished I hadn't read it. I've pretty much hated every book suggested by Oprah. If I do decide to read, I'll generally pick a Nicholas Sparks book--I like his books. When I read People or US Weekly I usually go through the whole magazine first looking at the pictures and then I might go back and read an article. A couple of weeks ago I was sitting in the waiting room of a tire store reading an article in a magazine about this crime/controversy incident that occured on the Texas/Mexico border. It was very intriguing and I was interested; however, I flipped through and saw how many pages the article covered and quit reading it--too many pages.
2) I might not like to read, but apparently I like to ramble on about how much I don't like to read.
3) Fall is not my favorite season (summer is), but two of my favorite fall things are football and taco soup.
4) One of the reasons I don't like fall is fall clothes. I hate wearing long sleeves and I hate wearing coats. I hate how I have to pull my hair out of the neckline of coats, and how my hair gets all static-y.
5) I am part vampire. No, silly, not really! But, I CANNOT go outside without sunglasses on. Even if it's cloudy and rainy out, my eyes are so sensitive to sunlight that I have to wear sunglasses outside....always!
6) I played tennis growing up and I miss it. I would love to find the time to start playing again. Maybe I'll give up reading altogether and replace it with tennis! :)
7) I work full-time and I sometimes struggle with this choice. The (what seems like) weekly Today Show segment on the "mommy wars" doesn't help, either. It doesn't matter, though, I constantly have my own mommy wars going on inside my head.
8) I have this horrible, terrible, awful habit of not putting on my seatbelt. Barbara Mandrell (and my mom) would be so disappointed in me. Today when I was driving my 18 mile drive to work, I put my seatbelt on for the last .0000005 miles of the drive.
I'm typing this while watching Dancing With the Stars....is it just me or does anyone else prefer Drew Lachey to Samantha Harris?

I do the same thing when I ready US or People. I thought I was going crazy. The whole way to Lubbock, I could not read one whole article.
we are so opposite...at least with the fall clothing observation. Clothes are my favorite thing about autumn/winter!
if i lived by you, i'd play tennis with you...i have 2 racquets if you want to play on friday night :)
Yes, Drew is much better than Samantha. Agreed. (Sorry, everything else was already commented on...gotta keep it hot!!)
I read constantly. At least one book a week, but I can honestly say that I have HATED every single book that Oprah has ever suggested. Well, all but Anna Karenina. Don't ever go on her suggestions!
I love fall and winter hair. Static-ky, yes, but at least not humid hair. My hair goes into a pony tail each summer and comes back out after the humidity!
Barbara Mandrell is a completely random comment (to me at least) - well done. :)
Love fall/winter clothes, and I am a bit of a coat/jacket, umm, whoarder (misspelled on purpose). I have to kind of hide all my jackets/coats so Brent doesn't think I'm even crazier. Oh, and I've banned myself from buying more. For now.
I struggle with #7 as well.
And Drew is much better than Samantha :)
I love to laugh at your posts. Those are really random things. Okay, so I won't ask you to be in my book club!!
Get a Nintendo Wii. Seriously, you can play tennis all day and it is FUN!! I can't wait to get home at night and play it. Plus you are burning calories!
I love to read, though I rarely get a chance to read lately.
The teacher in me has to give you some advice...forgive me please :)...I read a study for work about how children that do not see their parents read are much less likely to read for pleasure themselves. My husband isn't a big reader, and he says the only time he ever saw his parents read was on the beach when they were on vacation, and despite the fact that they are awesome parents, they really didn't read to him when he was little or with him when he was older. I encourage you to make sure your girls see you reading, and if you aren't already reading with them a little bit everyday, take it up...they'll love it. I've found that kids books are often even better than the adult stuff.
Very funny and very random! :) Have a good week!
Thanks for your comment; we live in the Houston area though :( I'm calling around and everywhere I call has a waiting list. That's what I get for assuming we'd love the place they are in now. Oh well...live and learn!
