I'm back. And, I realize that if blogging were my job, I would SO be fired.
It's not that I thought that dry erase board post was *that great*. And, it's not that I haven't had the time to blog (unemployed). I just haven't made the time to blog.
Time to catch up, though.
Honestly, not a lot happened the last few weeks of summer. I've always said the summer break flies by after the 4th of July, and this year was no exception. And, with the temps well over 100 degrees every. stinkin'. day.....we didn't get out much. The kids spent endless hours in the pool, and I spent endless hours with my face pressed against the grates of a box fan.
One of the highlights in early August was getting to go the a preseason Cowboys game with our dear family friends, the Lackeys. We had a lot of fun, and it was great hanging out with our gracious hosts!

Derran and my dad
Lindsay, Korley, and Landry
Jeff and me
Our friend, Sarah, was there too, and I don't have one stinkin' picture of her--which is a shame because she's a doll!! Boo!! Sarah, how did you manage to avoid all of the hundreds of pictures Korley took?!
The other HUGE August event was the start of school.
Landry started 4th grade and Korley started Kindergarten.
They are both off to great starts this school year. Both girls got the teachers that I was really hoping they would have. Landry ran for and won a spot on Student Council. Only 2 people from her class could be voted-in--11 people ran and had to give a speech to the class. Landry was one of the two chosen! I was so proud of her because, frankly, she created her speech all by herself. She told me later that her speech received the "loudest" applause! :)
Korley is loving school, too. I had lunch with her on Friday of the first week of school and, I swear, the child already knew everybody in school. She eventually made her way to me on the other side of the cafeteria after she stopped to shake hands, pose for pictures with the elderly, and kissed babies' heads--the girl could be a politician.

Landry and Ms. Gipson
The other recent big news in our family is that we are expecting our third child in March 2012! We're very excited, but nervous about having a newborn again. We're a little bit out of practice!
We told the girls last Thursday by giving them shirts that said "Biggest Sister" and "Big Sister". The baby's shirt says "I love my big sisters".
Their excitement was priceless. They were laughing and hugging each other and jumping up and down. My only regret is that we didn't have it on video.
That's it for now! I hope to be back before mid-October!! :)
